FAQ - Menu Covers

Are all of your products in stock?
Not all products are in stock. Please refer to specific product descriptions or call our Customer Service Department for details. Stock items are generally shipped same or next business day dependent on time of day of order placement. Please note that current production lead times will apply to all customized products based on the number of orders in-house (please call Customer Service for current timetables). Priority Ship Dates may be available.

I am not sure I understand the menu sizing charts. Can you please explain?
All sizes refer to actual insert sizes (a menu cover referenced as 8.5 x 11 = 8.5 x 11 paper (insert) size). Custom sizes are available in many different menu cover styles. Please call for quotes.

Can I get a sample of the product I am interested in purchasing?
One free sample per customer of most products (shipping included) is available upon request. Some samples are billable and not returnable. Shipping mode is at the discretion of The Menu Shop, however, chargeable expedited shipping is available.

Can I get an estimate of the cost to produce my menu covers upfront?
Of course! Our Estimates provide you with your product pricing and options, customization and shipping costs, and production lead times.

Can I order a custom sized menu cover?
Please call us for custom sizes and designs (gatefolds, landscape formats, etc.). We will work with you to create your unique product.

What colors are available for my menu covers?
Color representations on our website may vary slightly from actual material colors. Material colors can vary based on dye lots. For precise color-matching, swatches are available for all products.

Can I get my company logo or name imprinted on my menu covers?
Most of our restaurant menu covers can be customized with your logo or establishment name by fabricating a metal die to imprint and recess your logo into your product. Foil stamping (imprinting and recessing with color) or Blind Debossing (imprinting and recessing without color) are available. You can also choose from our products that utilize your own artwork or image (Die Cut and Custom-Printed Menu covers). Foil Stamping/Blind Debossing charges are as follows:
  • Logo, each color (one die, one size): $90.00 - a one-time fee (not incurred on re-orders).
  • No per-menu-cover stamping fee.
  • Second Stamping Fee: $2.00 per additional color (not including 1st color) per menu cover.
What foil colors are available and can I see what it will look like before I order?
The foil stamping process involves the fabrication of a metal die that imprints and recesses your logo into your product with the application of foil colors. Please note that foil chemical properties can vary from color to color and, therefore, certain product/foil combinations may not be appropriate. Color proofs are provided via email at no additional charge.

Foil Colors: Gold, Silver, Beige, Black, Blue, Brown, Brushed Gun Metal, Green, Maroon, Orange, Red, White, Yellow.

What positions are available for my logo or text?
Your customization can be positioned in the location of your choice, however, most customers choose one of the following options:

  • Dead Center: Centered both vertically and horizontally.

  • Optical Center: Centered slightly above dead center.

How do I know if my logo artwork meets the necessary requirements for production?
Our Art Department provides free logo evaluation to determine if your logo is useable as submitted. This determination will provide you with any Artwork Rework estimated charges that may apply to bring your logo to a format suitable to reproduce your logo. Please email your logo to your Customer Service Representative in the following format:

  • 300 dpi

  • Black & White

  • EPS, AI, JPEG or TIFF

  • Fine Lines, 5 pt minimum 

  • Lettering, 24 pt minimum    

Are there any requirements for submitting my own typeset?
When submitting your own typeset, please advise of the font and font size you are utilizing. Please email to your Customer Service Representative as a flattened JPEG or TIFF file.

What if my artwork needs to be reworked?
Logos not submitted in a useable format can be reworked by our Art Department for a standard $50/hour.

 

Will I receive a proof of my submitted artwork?
Color Proofs/Spec Sheets are provided via email at no additional charge for all customized products. Proof approval must be verified via return email or fax prior to order proceeding to production. Please note that some changes to proofs may be chargeable.

Are stock logos available and how much do they cost?

Can I get a pre-production sample?
Orders for customized samples of products prior to full production runs can be produced. Your Foil Stamp/Blind Deboss fee(s) will apply (not incurred again at full order placement unless logo or logo size changes). An additional labor/set up fee of $65.00 also applies.

Why are minimums required for certain products?
Minimums are set to provide you with the best pricing available as relating to production runs. Some products can be produced for less than the stated minimums, however, a $50.00 fee generally applies. Please call for details.

How long does it take to produce my menu covers?
Production Lead Times vary by season and volume of in-house orders. Please advise of deadlines, as Priority Ship Dates may be available, and every effort will be made to accommodate your reasonable schedule. Expedited shipping may be necessary.

How long will it take ship my menu covers?
Shipping and Handling charges are FOB Rochester, New York. All orders are shipped via UPS Ground unless otherwise specified. Expedited services, such as 3 Day Select, 2nd Day Air, Next Day Air and Next Day Air Early AM Delivery, are available for an additional fee. Saturday delivery is not standard for UPS Ground, 3 Day Select, 2nd Day Air, Next Day Air and Next Day Air Early AM Delivery, but is available for an additional cost. Please call for pricing if you need Saturday delivery. Customers may provide their own UPS, FedEx, and DHL account numbers, if preferable. Priority Ship Dates may be available for customized orders. Expedited shipping may be necessary to accommodate deadlines. We are not responsible for delays in transit. Shipping transit times via UPS Ground are based on the following:

  • Zip Codes Beginning With 0, 1, 2:   1 to 2 Business Days

  • Zip Codes Beginning With 3, 4:       2 to 3 Business Days

  • Zip Codes Beginning With 5, 6, 7:   3 to 4 Business Days

  • Zip Codes Beginning With 8, 9:       4 to 5 Business Days

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we can ship internationally. However, all international orders, customs/import fees/VATs are payable by the customer and not the responsibility of The Menu Shop.

How do I place my order?
Orders may be placed as follows: Online, Email, Fax, Verbal (with written confirmation; we are not responsible for errors resulting from verbal orders). We reserve the industry-standard right to ship and bill for 5% over or under the quantity ordered. The following product information is required for menu cover order placement: Name (type of menu cover); insert size; # of views; color; customization (foil stamp color or blind deboss); quantities.

What are your payment terms?
Full payment is required upon order placement. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, certified checks, company checks, wire transfers, and money orders are accepted.  Personal checks are not accepted.  We reserve the right to request a certified check or money order. The following information is required for payment via credit card:

  • Credit Card #

  • Credit Card Expiration Date 

  • CVV Code

  • Cardholder Name (exact) on Credit Card

  • Billing Address (exact) for Credit Card             

What if I need to return my menu covers?
Here is our policy for returned items:
  • A Return Authorization Number is mandatory and will be issued by a Customer Service Representative within 10 days (only) of customer’s receipt of product.
  • For ID purposes, Return Authorization Numbers must be clearly marked on the outside of all packages being returned.
  • Returns must be received within 10 days of issuance of Return Authorization Number.
  • An authorized return may be returned for replacement or credit, less a 20% restocking fee and only after inspection and approval by The Menu Shop.
  • Shipping charges (both ways) are the responsibility of the customer.
  • All returns must be in the same condition as originally received.
  • Customized and non-stock items are non-returnable.
How should I clean and store my menu covers? 
Products should be regularly maintained by cleaning with a slightly damp cloth. We do not recommend menu boxes for storage of your menu holders. We do recommend a light spray of ScotchGuard on Cork products to prevent absorption of food and beverage spills.
